William Thomas Poupard

Mr. William Thomas Poupard, age 97, passed away at his residence on May 31, 2026. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the Smithville City Cemetery on Friday, June 5, 2026.

William Poupard was born December 9, 1928 to the late Francis Thomas Poupard, and Carrie Mae Martin. He graduated high school and immediately went to serve his country in the United States Army and continued his career within the Army until his retirement in 1968.

He is survived by his son, George Thomas Poupard (Louann). His grandsons; Tony Poupard and Michael Poupard (Shelby). His granddaughters, Lindsay King (Steve) and Elizabeth Ekkel. His brother, Bobby Poupard. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews along with other extended family.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife Sara Zaida Ivey Poupard, his daughter, Toni Deriso and his son-in-law Billy Deriso and his grandson; Lee Poupard.

In lieu of the flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
