Mrs. Ruth King Smith

Mrs. Ruth King Smith, age 88 passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2022 at Andersonville National Cemetery. Brother Jimmy English will officiate. "Mimi" as she was known will be laid to rest in Andersonville and memorialized with her first husband, William Delbert Johnston Sr. who preceded her in death (1962). The family will receive friends immediately after the service or other times, at the residence of Charlie and Tammi Johnston 145 West Allen Street in Leslie. Ruth King Smith was born July 21, 1934 in Americus, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Charles Brewster and Mary Harris King. Growing up in Americus, she had a love for horseback riding and playing basketball for Americus High School where she graduated in 1952. She then attended an all-girls school in Mississippi prior to transferring and graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Education.
