Ms. Rachel Hightower Avery, age 63, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Reverend Bryan Bentley will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Richland, GA. A visitation will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Rachel Olivia Hightower Avery was born February 22, 1960 in Richland, GA. She was the daughter of the late Robert Wheeler Hightower and Emily Smith Hightower. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister; Mary Anna Hightower Magowen, two brothers; Leon Hightower, Robert Hightower. Survivors include four sons; Clay Avery (Elizabeth) of AL, Robert Avery of Americus, Eric Avery of Americus, and Zane Avery of Americus.
