Peggy Anne Perry

Peggy Anne Harbuck Perry, age 88, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Magnolia Manor in Americus, Georgia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. William Hall will officiate.

Peggy was born on September 16, 1937, to the late J.C. Harbuck and Elizabeth Harbuck. She graduated from Americus High School and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She lived a life centered around her family, her home, and the simple joys that brought happiness to those around her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful friend whose quiet acts of love were felt every day.

Peggy shared a beautiful marriage of 71 years with the love of her life, Joseph Eugene (J.E) Perry, a testament to their unwavering devotion to one another. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, treasured traditions, and countless memories with family and friends.

Anyone who knew Peggy knew there was no one who could keep a home quite like she could. She took great pride in making sure her house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and that a warm meal was always waiting on the table for her family. She was famous for chocolate cake and cubed steak. Christmas was one of her favorite seasons, and she delighted in decorating her home each year, creating a place where everyone felt welcome.

She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, working crossword puzzles from the television guide, and faithfully keeping up with her favorite soap operas, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. Peggy had a fondness for ceramic chickens and roosters, and she never turned down a Dr Pepper and a Snickers bar—especially on Fridays. Friday was “store day,” a tradition her daughters remember with great affection as they piled into the car together for shopping trips filled with laughter and special memories.

Family beach trips were another cherished tradition. While everyone else was loading the car, Peggy could always be found wrapping up a ham to make sure everyone was well fed once they arrived.

During her time at Magnolia Manor, Peggy quickly became a beloved resident. Affectionately nicknamed “Spit Fire” by the staff, she was known for her spirited personality, her daily visits with friends in the lobby, and her determination to keep things just the way she liked them. In fact, she rearranged the furniture in her room so often that the staff finally had to secure her wardrobe in place. Her lively spirit and warm conversations brightened the days of everyone who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her loving daughters, Jeannie Martin and Janet Weaver (Dwain); her sister, Thelma Usry; her sister-in-law, Julie Fairbrother; one cherished grandchild; two beloved great-grandchildren; and many dear friends and extended family who will forever treasure her memory.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Joseph Eugene (J.E) Perry, and her dear sister, Helen Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia Manor, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, Georgia.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Magnolia Manor for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Peggy throughout her time there. Their love and dedication brought great comfort to Peggy and her family and will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.
