Mrs. Mary Pate Baker of Americus, GA, passed away on January 30, 2022. Born on June 30, 1938, in Moultrie, GA, she was the daughter of Clarence Elmo Pate and Ellie Johnson Pate (Greene). Mary was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Americus touching the lives of many of the church's young people as a devoted youth leader. Most of her work career was spent working in accounting at IMC. Mary was the founder and group leader for the local Arthritis Support Group. She also served as a Red Cross Volunteer and mentor for the public school system. Mary was a passionate gardener and a member of the Morning Glory Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Eugene Baker; brothers Derward Eugene Pate, Daniel Dean Pate and William Hicks Greene; and a sister, Martha Pate Van Landingham. Survivors include son, Michael Eugene Baker, his wife Gayle of Wake Forest, North Carolina, two siblings, Anna Pate Busby (Jack) of Americus and Franklin Monroe Greene (Carolyn)...
