Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Sheppard

Mrs. Margaret A. Sheppard, age 92, known to many as "Miss Peggy", passed away in her home in Andersonville, GA on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Funeral services will be held graveside at Andersonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow immediately. Miss Peggy was born on September 06, 1923 in Westchester County, N.Y., the daughter of the late William Chantler Arbuckle and the late Margaret Dykes Arbuckle. She was employed as a schoolteacher for the Sumter County School system for 22 years. Miss Peggy served as Associate Editor of Georgia Magazine and Georgia Life Magazine. She was a free lance writer, authoring four books and the Tourism Director for Andersonville; she owned a Bed and Breakfast and Antique Shop. She was the Director and Past President of the Andersonville Guild and a member of the Andersonville Trail Association. Miss Peggy was also a member of the Andersonville United Methodist Church.
