Katherine Slappey Oates

Mrs. Katherine Slappey Oates age 99, passed away early Saturday morning February 22, 2014 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.  Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014. Rev. Keith Parks will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services.      Mrs. Oates was born March 16, 1914 in Americus, daughter of the late Lucien William Slappey and Kate Morris Slappey.  She was retired from Manhattan Shirt Company formerly of Americus. She worked in the buttonhole department at Manhattan Shirt Company for fifty years.
