John Sowell Edgemon

Mr. John Sowell Edgemon age 76, of Americus, passed away peacefully July 14, 2026 at Piedmont Hospital in Macon, GA. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Edgemon Cemetery in Ten Mile, TN 37880. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2026 in the Chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services.

John Sowell Edgemon was born on April 4, 1950 to the late Fred Edgemon, Sr. and Frances Edgemon in Pikeville, Tennessee. He was the owner and operator of Philema Turf for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and working on equipment. He was a friend to many but found his true joy within his sons.

John Sowell Edgemon is survived by his sons; James Edward Edgemon & John Vestal Edgemon both of Americus. His sister, Mary Jane Bettis (Rick) and brother, Tom Edgemon (Lisa) and numerous nephews and a niece.

In addition to his parents, John is proceeded in death by the mother of his children, Sarah Vestal Edgemon. Along with his brother Fred Edgemon, Jr.
