Mr. Jimmie Lee Rix, Sr. age 85, of Americus, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Bryan Myers and Rev. Earl Dunmon will officiatethe service. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Jimmie Lee Rix was born May 17, 1940 in Sioux City, IA. He was the son of the late Rex Lee Rix and the late Annis Musgrove Rix. He owned and operated Americus Auto Parts for many years and later owned and operated a Trucking business. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church. He was a member of the Alfred Dupree Sunday School Class and the Men’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study Class.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jean Van Agnew Rix of Americus, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Lee Rix, Jr. “Jay” (Linda) of Americus and Jeffrey Gordon Rix (Tara) of Andersonville; two sisters, Joyce Rix McNease of Bainbridge, GA and Susan Carlin ofPensacola, FL.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny McCalvin (Linda) of Tallahassee, FL.
Jimmie is also survived by five grandchildren; Jennifer Rix Harris (Chris), Rebecca Rix, Sarah Beth Rix, Cory Rix, Rene Rix and two great grandchildren, James Harris and Dolly Jean Harris due in July.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Rix and five siblings.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
