James Glen Herron "Jim" died on December 21st, 2022 in Albany, Georgia. Born on June 16, 1934 in Covington, Kentucky, he was the youngest son of Stella Kelsay Herron and Elmer E. Herron.
He was A Graduate of Dixie Heights High School in Erlanger, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky (Northern) for one year. In August of 1954 he enlisted in the United States Army serving in majority of his military services in Puerto Rico. In September, 1956 he enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy graduating in 1960. In December, 1961, he entered the University of Tennessee College of Medicine graduating in March of 1965. In July, 1965 he began his internship at the city of Memphis Hospitals. In July of 1966 he began his residency in internal medicine specializing in cardiology and pulmonary. Dr. Herron was pleased to have been mentored by Dr. Gene Stollerman, a world-renowned researcher in streptococcal disease.
