Mrs. Helen Holmes Slaughter

Mrs. Helen Holmes Slaughter age 93 passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Americus. Rev. Keith Parks will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. central time Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Rocks Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Lafayette, AL. Rev. Jason Owens will officiate the service. Helen Holmes Slaughter was born February 19, 1929 in La Fayette, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Charles Nolan Holmes and the late Claudie Cox Holmes. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1951 and a Masters Degree in Education from Auburn University in 1957.
