Dr. George Washington Bagley IV, beloved and prominent dentist, died December 9, 2016 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at Phoebe Sumter Hospital. A fifth generation Sumter Countian, Dr. Bagley was born on June 21, 1951 to the late Dr. George Washington Bagley III and Mary Barta Bagley of Americus, GA.
A devoted member of St John's Church, where he served as a lay reader, George's accomplishments are numerous and diverse. After graduating with honors from Americus High School, where he was on the golf team winning two state championships, he attended the University of Georgia and Georgia Southwestern State University obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He then furthered his education enrolling in the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta, GA.
