Mr. Fred Baker Simpson

Fred Baker Simpson, Jr., age 77, died on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his home in Americus, Georgia with his wife of 52 years, Lisa, by his side. Visitation will be held at Americus First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 1:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. Daryl Brown, Dr. Mike Simpson, Craig Caldwell and Mike O'Sheasy will officiate. The following grandsons will serve as active pallbearers: Joshua Willis, Andrew Willis, Thomas Willis and Chase Conger. Fred grew up in the mill village of Chicopee, GA, near Gainesville. From a very young age he was recognized as a talented and determined athlete and made a name for himself in Gainesville and the North Georgia area. He was a stand-out at South Hall High School as a class officer and athlete, lettering in all sports all four years.
