Edward "Pal" Markette

Mr. Edward Paschal "Pal" Markette, age 88 passed away early Friday morning February 21, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, Ga.  Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 23, 2014 from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery Father Rick Buechner officiated.      Mr. Markette was born April 17, 1925 in Americus, Ga. son of the late George Watts Markette and Vera Hood Markette.  He was retired after working as Vice President of Sales for City Gas Co. of Miami, Florida for many years.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator on a PT boat in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was an enthusiastic golfer and avid woodworker.      Mr. Markette is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Methvin Markette of Americus.  He leaves to mourn his two daughters and son-in-law, Marcia Markette of Atlanta, Ga. and Kay Markette Pace [Mark] of Americus, a granddaughter, Emma Kay Markette of Athens, Ga. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  His good humor and generous spirit will be missed by all who...
