Mr. Edgar Alan Anderson

Mr. Edgar Alan Anderson, age 68, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church. Rev. Wendy Peacock will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Aldridge Funeral Services. Mr. Anderson was born May 2, 1951 in Columbus, GA. He was the son of the late Alexander McMillan Anderson and the late Edna May Purvis Anderson. He was a retired educator having taught Georgia History at Staley Middle School for many years and was honored as "Teacher of the Year." Mr. Anderson wrote a column for the Americus Times Recorder. He was a member of The Sumter County Historic Society and served as their historian for many years. He authored several books, including "Remembering Americus, Georgia" and "The History of First Baptist Church."
