E. J. Shaw Jr.

Mr. E. J. Shaw Jr. age 88 passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, June 27, 2014 at Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. William Hall officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Harris, Heyward Jerkins, Donald Ritch, Marvin Smith and Kenneth Hill.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, June 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at other times the family residence of Lana and Len Hicks 709 South Lee Street Americus.      Mr. Shaw was born April 3, 1926 in Tift County, Ga. the son of the late Elijah Johnson Shaw Sr. and Ruth Starnes Shaw.  He was a Navy Seabees Veteran of WWII in the Philippines and the Korean War.  He was a farmer and plumber until retirement, but always had a home garden and was most proud of his tomatoes.  He was a member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church in Americus where he served as a deacon for many years.  He was married to the late Sara...
