Mr. David Milton Reeves

April 1, 1948 – January 14, 2025 David Milton Reeves, 76, passed away January 14, 2025 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. He was born in Sumter County Georgia on April 1, 1948 to the late Jewell Davis Reeves and William Houston Reeves. David was an avid outdoorsman and gifted athlete. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1966 out of high school but decided to attend the University of Georgia where he was an All-SEC standout pitcher and homerun leader on the UGA baseball team. Upon completion of his Georgia baseball career, he was awarded the Georgia Varsity G. He was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog. David served in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, and was a proud military veteran. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved his friends and cousins, and loved driving around visiting those friends and cousins all throughout the community. He was known for his prowess in the garden, and also got great joy from sharing his legendary tomatoes with friends, family, and neighbors. He will be greatly missed, but his time on earth was blessed beyond measure. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Aldridge Funeral Services in Americus, GA from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains, GA at 2:00PM with Rev. Dr. Dennis Stalvey officiating. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judy, and his son Mike (Blake) all of Plains, GA; his daughter Angie of Nashville, TN; his brother Dr. William N. “Bill” Reeves (Mary Claire); his brother Robert H. “Bob” Reeves (Carolyn); his sister Marilyn R. Guest (Phil); grandchildren Drew Reeves, Porter Weeks, and Norah Weeks. He is also survived by his many beloved cousins and nephews and nieces. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Reeves, Jerry Reeves, Gary Reeves, Charles Reeves, Roy Don “Butch” Reeves, Neil Hagerson, Boyd Hagerson, and Walter Davenport.
