Ms. Dana Michele McLemore

Dana Michele McLemore, age 54 of Plains, GA, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 5th 2025. Ms. Dana McLemore was born at Sumter Regional Hospital on April 21st, 1971 to George and Betty Sue Dominick. She graduated from Americus High School in 1989 with honors and went on to study nursing at Georgia Southwestern State University, where she received the 12th District Award for Academic Excellence. Dana, always having a heart for others, was a devoted CCU nurse for a combined 27 years at Sumter Regional/Phoebe Sumter Hospitals where she helped save the lives of countless patients until her retirement in 2017. Ms. McLemore was celebrated for her mouthwatering recipes, especially the artistically designed cakes she crafted. She was also known as a “crochet queen” who could make virtually anything if she had a pattern. There was no better person who could find a yarn sale at Hobby Lobby! “Mama” was a loving mother to two daughters and a grandmother to one grandson. Her captivating smile, warm personality, and quick – witted humor will be sincerely missed by family, along with friends. We take heart, however, in the Scripture found at Revelation 21:4 that reads, “And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Ms. Dana McLemore is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth McLemore Castaneda (Pablo) of Smithfield, Virginia; Holly McLemore of Americus, Georgia; and a grandson, Pablo Elias Castaneda of Smithfield, Virginia. In addition to her daughters and grandson, Dana is survived by her mother, Betty Sue Dominick of Plains, Georgia and four siblings: Jeff Fox (Sonya) of Americus, Georgia; Ronda Wells (Kevin) of Americus, Georgia; Michael Dominick (Stacy) of Plains, Georgia and Kim Achtchi of Atlanta, Georgia. “Aunt Dana” is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Theron Dominick and former sister-in-law, Pamela Dominick. Funeral services are by invitation only. Plains Baptist Church members and former co-workers of Ms. McLemore are invited to attend.
