Ms. Catherine Matilda Yown Downs, age 82 of Americus, passed away at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service. Rev. Colton Taunton will officiate the service. Ms. Catherine Matilda Yown Downs was born January 16, 1943 in Sylvester, GA to the late Jesse Yown and Bessie Mae Yown Hall. She worked retail sales for many years and made plenty of friends during her time working. She was a Christian in faith. She is survived by her two daughters; Pamela Terry (Randy) of Moultrie, GA and Amelia Jean Nkwenti of Springfield, MO. A son; James Doggett (Michelle) of Americus, GA.
