Carl Roland Satterfield

Dec 8, 1941 — Jul 31, 2026

Carl Roland Satterfield, a devoted family man, lifelong farmer, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at his home in Americus, Georgia. Born on December 8, 1941, in Sumter County, Georgia, to Elmer Jasper (Buck) Satterfield and Callie Fletcher Satterfield, Roland’s 84 years were filled with love, faith, and a deep commitment to his family.

Roland was the beloved husband of June Wright Satterfield, for 63 years, and the proud father of three children, Randall Satterfield (Terri) of Americus, Georgia, Paige Satterfield Dudley (Bill) of Fortson, Georgia, and Carla Satterfield Turner (Ty) of Thomasville, Georgia.

Roland began his education at New Era School and graduated from Americus High School in 1959. He continued his education at Georgia Southwestern College and later graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1963 with a degree in Business. Beginning his lifelong farming career in 1969, he built a successful family farming business growing row crops and raising livestock. A point of pride for Roland was relying on his faith, choosing not to use irrigation and rely only on God’s provisions. Roland was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served numerous years as a deacon and treasurer. He was a former member of the Sumter County Board of Education and prior board member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS).

In addition to his wife and three children, he is survived by his grandchildren Colton Satterfield (Ashleigh) of Americus, Georgia; Morgan Satterfield of Americus, Georgia; Ashton Bledsoe (Brennan) of Vienna, Georgia; Nikki Martin (DJ) of Ellaville, Georgia; Carley Dudley of Greenville, South Carolina; Ansleigh Dudley of Atlanta, Georgia; Macon Dudley of Columbus, Georgia; Hallie Turner of Augusta, Georgia, and Anna Lane Turner of Thomasville, Georgia; and his great grandchildren Victoria Battle, Callie Satterfield, Addie Kate Satterfield, Kendall Hale and Logan Hale (all who affectionately called him Grandpa).

Other survivors include a sister, Kay Satterfield Edmunds (Fred) of Americus, Georgia; and a sister-in-law Judy Thaxton Satterfield of Cartersville, Georgia; along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents and his beloved brother Ronnie Satterfield, who preceded him in death.
