Mr. Brooks Edward Buchanan III age 83, of Americus, passed away Wednesday. August 17, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 Friday, August 19, 2022 at the St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Plains. There are no funeral services planned. Brooks Edward Buchanan III was born October 23, 1938 in Sumter County. He was the son of the late Brooks Edward Buchanan Jr. and the late Susie Bell Halstead Buchanan. Mr. Buchanan graduated from Plains High School. He served in the National Guard. He retired from Georgia Power after many years of service as a High Line Forman. He had a passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing were his favorite. He attended St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wise Buchanan of Plains. Two sons, Timothy Edward Buchanan of Plains and Kelly Wise Buchanan of Plains. A sister Jean Howell (Russell) of Americus and a brother-In-law, Dr. David Wise (Jane Ann) of Miami, FL.
