Ms. Betty Jean Newman

Ms. Betty Jean Newman age 88, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officiate the service. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. Betty Jean Newman was born November 4, 1934 in Americus. She was the daughter of the late William Leon McClung and the late Sara Eugenia Short McClung. Ms. Newman also known as "BJ" was a lot of things to so many people. A loving mother, the best grandmother "Mama Jean," a wonderful friend. She loved her "Coffee Girls" she met with weekly. Ms. Newman was witty, a social lite and had a knack for decorating. She loved Hallmark movies, absolutely loved Christmas and would often share her home for the holidays.
