Mrs. Betty Jean Mcelroy

Mrs. Betty McElroy (affectionately known to many as Miss Betty or Nanny), age 77, passed away at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on October 22, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Aldridge Funeral Services. Reverend Raymond Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Plains, GA. The family will receive friends at Aldridge Funeral Services on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Bennie and Gwen Picquet at 115 Lawhorn Circle, Americus, GA . Mrs. McElroy was born on July 10, 1938, the daughter of the late James Daniel Cox and the late Eula Susie Howell Cox. She was employed for 25 years at the Peanut Gallery in Plains, GA. Mrs. McElroy was a member of Preston Baptist Church. Mrs. McElroy is survived by her husband of 62 years, John H. McElroy.
