Marion "Pete" Davis Silver Mrs. Marion Davis Silver, affectionately known as "Pete", died on Friday, September 19, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Pete was born in RFD DeSoto on February 20, 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Addison Davis, Jr. and Maidee Conley Davis Walker; and by her husband, Stanley Silver. Pete graduated from Americus High School and Georgia Southwestern College. She was an outstanding student who loved sports and dancing. She was honored as a Superlative in her Senior class. In addition to being a cheerleader at Americus High School, Pete loved playing basketball, both in high school and college. At Georgia Southwestern, Pete was elected co-Captain of the basketball team in 1958 and 1959, and won numerous medals including, All Tournament and Sportsmanship Awards. Pete was also elected a "GSW Favorite" and Sweetheart of Kappa Sigma Phi Fraternity. In 2002, Pete was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Georgia Southwestern State University....
