Alvin Walker Spence

Mr. Alvin Walker Spence, age 92 of Americus, passed away Monday April 13, 2026 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M, Friday, April 17, 2026 at Lee Street Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dennis Stalvey will officiate these services.

Alvin Walker Spence was born on March 16, 1934 in Colquitt, GA to the late Lewis and Julia Spence. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and later he attended South Georgia Technical College where he studied in aviation and hydraulics. He worked for Redman Mobile homes and Textron for over thirty-one years. He married Gloria Adams Spence and gained more than a wife but a plethora of extended family. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Agnes Ingram, Eleanor Hand, Gladys Lowery, Thomas Bud Spence and Lewis Bob Spence.
