Allan Patrick Newkirk

Mr. Allan Patrick Newkirk, age 67, died suddenly at his home in Americus, Georgia on December 29, 2012.  A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services with Father Isidore Baky officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.      Mr. Newkirk was born March 29, 1945 in Detroit Michigan the son of the late Glenn William Newkirk and Ann Theresa Schroeder Newkirk and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.       Allan began his career as an apprentice carpenter in Detroit, Michigan where he attained Journeyman's Status.  After working in that area doe a few years, he joined the Peace Corps and served in Haiti and Malia.  Upon leaving the Peace Corps, he returned home where he met his wife-to-be, Kathy Hardester.  They moved to Colorado where they owned and operated a car wash.  While working in Colorado, he felt the Call to serve others, so he worked for Habitat for...
