Adalyn Johnson Wilson (age 98) passed away peacefully at her home on the afternoon of August 17, 2023 surrounded by family. She lived a full and happy life and was a friend to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed and forever fondly remembered.
She was born on September 15, 1924 in Ashburn, Turner County, Georgia. She was the daughter of John S. and Janie Mae North Johnson. She graduated from Ashburn High School in 1941 and was a member of the first high school girls' basketball team.
She then attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega and graduated with a degree as a clinical laboratory technician. She interned at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.
Adalyn accepted a position at Phoebe Hospital in Albany. While serving in Albany, she was asked to relocate to Americus and started working at the hospital where she helped establish the clinical laboratory. It was in Americus, that she met her husband, Dr. Frank A. Wilson III. On December 31, 1949, Adalyn and Frank were married.
