Mr. Pat Smith Medlock

Mr. Pat Smith Medlock, age 85 of Plains, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Friday morning, April 22, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services to celebrate a life well-lived will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2022 at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Speir officiating and Rev. Ron Perry assisting. His seven grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The following caregivers, who were so attentive to his needs, will be recognized as honorary pallbearers: Linda Tyson, LaShala Reese, Mary Sweet, Trynessa Jackson and Pam Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends at their residence 351 Magnolia Springs Road, Plains Ga. Pat Smith Medlock was born August 21, 1936 in Sumter County. He was the son of the late William Verlyn Medlock and the late Grace Smith Medlock. The tall and quiet man turned down opportunities to play collegiate basketball to marry the love of his life, Patsy Short. Together they built a home filled with love. Mr. Medlock adored Patsy, Ken, and “the girls”. He worked for Georgia Power Company for eighteen years to support his family before farming full time. He loved the land that he owned and worked, Magnolia Springs. Farming was his passion and family was his pride. “Papa’s” pride for family was only matched by the adoration that his grandchildren held for him. Mr. Medlock was an active member of Hebron Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Patsy Short Medlock of Plains. Three daughters and Sons-in-law, Molly Medlock Speir of Plains, Polly Medlock Martin (Arthur) of Plains and Patty Medlock Webb (Jonathan) of Plains. One son, Kenneth William Medlock of Plains, a sister, Nancy Jo Alston of Cataula, Ga and a brother, Wade Parks Medlock (Jodeane) of Plains. Seven Grandchildren Benjamin Martin (Maranda), Cassie Martin, Callie Martin McGowan, Mandy Speir Taylor (Patrick), Josh Speir (Danielle), Will Webb (Erin) and Sara Webb Dixon (Cameron). Twelve great grandchildren, Lyla Taylor, Emalyn Taylor, Samuel Taylor, Madeline Taylor, Ezekiel Speir, Lily Rose Speir, Katelyn Speir, Adara Martin, Audren McGowan, Turner Webb, Wade Webb and Thomas Dixon also survive. In addition to his parents, Mr. Medlock was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Medlock Dale, Georgia Ann Medlock and two brothers Charles R.
