Mrs. Marcia Carol Sutton

Mrs. Marcia Carol Sutton, age 72, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Wilson Hospice House in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. A private interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. Pallbearers include Cody Bivins, Jarrad Clark, T.J. Clark, Dylon Webb, Adam Cox, Kyle Fulleton, Jacob Sutton, Jason Taft, and Tyler Zielinski. Marcia Carol Sutton was born August 19, 1951, in Manchester, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Wormic Naish, Jr., and the late Alice Ashley Chadwick. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael Wester Sutton, after he returned home from war. Together, they built a family that would become Marcia’s pride and joy. Her happiness derived from the time she spent with those who affectionately called her Mom and Mawmaw. She had many interests, including crocheting, arts and crafts, reading, cooking, and collecting dolls and pigs, all of which she shared with her family. She loved cooking fried okra, baking sweets, crafting angels and crosses, and scaring the kids and grandkids with her antique dolls. She loved to entertain with her sassy, spunky nature. Marcia’s love for the Lord was unmatched. She followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming a lay minister and Sunday school teacher at Andersonville Methodist church where she made a second family in membership. Marcia considered you family if she adorned you with a southern term of affection, such as “doll”, “honey”, or “baby”. It also was not unusual to hear her say “britches,” “hold your horses,” or “over yonder”. She was a true southern belle, and all who knew her will miss her dearly. Survivors include her loving husband and soulmate, Mike Sutton of Andersonville; two daughters: Catrina Davis and Angie Brunson (Eddie); one son: Shane Sutton (Paige); nine grandchildren: Tera Zielinski (Tyler), Cody Bivins (Hannah), Courtney McCarty (John), Cailee Davis, Katelyn Sutton (Dylon), Desiree Edwards, Austin Sutton, Jacob Sutton (Olivia), and Ayden Sutton; six great-grandchildren: Ella, Taybor, Grayson, Johnathon Jr., Jacob, Baylor, and Aubrey; one sister: Mary Charles Flowers (Gene); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her brother Joe Van Naish and granddaughter Adelaide Sutton. Her caregivers included: Mary McCann, the nurses at Phoebe Sumter, Phoebe Sumter Hospice, and the nurses at the Wilson Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and Shriners Hospital for Children.
