Mrs. Lana S Hicks

On October 12th, 2024, Lana S Hicks went to be with her heavenly father as he called her home. Born in Tifton GA on January 20th, 1949 to EJ and Sara Shaw, she grew up in Americus GA where she attended Americus High School and graduated in 1967. She married Len Hicks III on August 23rd of 1969. After he returned from Vietnam, they moved to Fayetteville NC and then to Kaiserslautern Germany. While in Germany, their son Chris Hicks was born on December 27th, 1971. Shortly after, they moved back to Americus, GA and lived there until 2018 when they relocated to Lancaster, SC to be closer to their grandsons. She and Len were married 55 years this year. While in Americus, Lana was a member of the First Baptist Church, Americus Jaycettes and the Junior Service League. She loved above all else her grandchildren and watching them play sports and grow into young men. She spent many a weekend on the sideline of the rugby field cheering them both on. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making stained glass and loving on her cat Boo. She was preceded in death by her parents, EJ and Sara Shaw. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her husband Len Hicks III, her son and daughter in law Chris and Teresa Hicks, grandsons Connor Hicks and Patrick Hicks and his future wife Kaylee, step grandson Michael Henderson and his wife Amy and their 2 daughters Zoe and Ema, her sister Gail Parker, sister in law Carole Wintle and husband Jack, cousin Linda Smith and her husband Mark, god children Jay Sudduth and Hilary Everidge and the mother of her grandsons, Shannon Virtue and nieces and nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank some special friends who are like family and have been there for Lana and Len for many years. They are: Corky and Lynn Carter, Bob and Ruth Harrison, John and Judy Johnson, Mike and Kay Bassett, Mike and Vonda Rushing, Windell and Ruth Sanders, Jim and Beverly Williams, Brenda and Jeff Hester and their families, and many, many more who were a part of her life and the legacy that she leaves behind. A celebration of life service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Americus GA on Thursday October 24th at 3pm. She will be interred at Andersonville National Cemetery.
