Mr. Kenneth Paul Wilson

Kenneth P. Wilson was born in 1946 in Manchester, GA. He was a graduate of Manchester High School where he played football. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business degree from Georgia Southwestern College. When he moved to Americus, GA, Kenneth got involved with the Americus Jaycees and was the past president of the Toastmasters Club. His active involvement in civic and community affairs also led him to be a member and past vice-president of the Americus Merchants Association, a member of the Civitan Club, Panther Club, American Legion, and the Sumter County Fair Association. Kenneth was also an elected City Councilman. In his role, he advocated for conservation efforts and environmental protection. A veteran in the U.S. Army, Kenneth loved his country and was honorably discharged as a Sergent in 1975. He worked as a Probation Officer for the Georgia Department of Corrections in Americus for more than 20 years before retiring in 2010. Kenneth’s’ life was marked by generosity, selflessness, and an unwavering kindness that touched everyone around him. Throughout his life, he taught his son, Paul and all the children and grandchildren, the importance of caring for others and giving without anything in return. As a single father, Kenneth dedicated himself wholeheartedly to raising a young son, working tirelessly to ensure that Paul never lacked love or support. Together, they shared many unforgettable memories from the beauty of Alaska to the vibrant shores of Key West, the grand traditions of the Masters Golf Tournaments, the mountains of Colorado, and countless of fishing hot spots. When Kenneth married his wife, Brenda, he knew that he had found his soulmate. He is a loving and caring husband to his wife. They enjoyed traveling, exploring new places and local restaurants and attending theater performances. Both Kenneth and Brenda shared a love for cooking, gardening, and searching for treasures in antique stores. They also loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, and friends, and being active members in their church, Central Baptist Church in Americus. Kenneth actively participated in his Sunday School class and the Tuesday morning Men’s Bible Study group. Kenneth was a businessman. In his retirement, he sold Plains peanuts to retail customers in Georgia and as far as Tennessee. When he participated in fairs and vendor events, Brenda would go with him and sell her handwoven scarfs. Kenneth is also a wonderful storyteller, always regaling his children and grandchildren with stories from his past. Kenneth’s life revolved around his family. He dedicated much of life taking care of Brenda and his family. Kenneth Wilson fought the good fight, lived his life with integrity, and, in doing so, left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him. His work on earth was complete, and his memory will be cherished forever. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Brenda Crumley Wilson, their three sons, David Paul Wilson of Nashville, TN; Al Crumpton (Valerie) of Augusta, GA and Brad Crumpton (Dori) of Eatonton, GA. His six grandchildren, Emma Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Quint Crumpton, Cody Crumpton, Hollie Crumpton, and Bentliegh Crumpton. Also, his two great-grandchildren, Julie Anne Crumpton and Alec Crumpton. He is also survived by a brother, David Wilson (Carolyn) of Manchester, GA. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilson Jr. and Jewell Gilbert Wilson, his two brothers, James Wilson, Wayne Wilson, and a grandson, Jake Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus Ga 31709.
