Mrs. Alice Jean Mills Phillips

Mrs. Alice Jean Mills Phillips age 92, of Smithville, passed away Wednesday, November 08, 2023 at the Wilson Hospice House in Albany. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Hebron Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Eubanks and Dr. Jim Hayes will officiate the service. The family will greet friends at the church Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time and other times, at the residence of Ronnie Mills 168 Mills Road in Smithville. The following gentleman will serve as active Pallbearers: Gordon Rouse, Donnie Mills, Brandon Mills, Chandler Mills, Clinton Mills and Jake Holland. Alice Jean West Mills – Phillips was born August 20 1931 in Doerun, GA. She was the daughter of the late George Washington West Sr. and the late Mittie Lee Wingate West. She graduated from Albany High School and later went to work for the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. Mrs. Phillips held various positions at the Marine Base and retired after 30 years of service. She was a active member of Hebron Baptist Church for 60 years. Survivors include her Daughter and son-in-law, Melody Gilmer (James) of Smithville. A son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Mills (Marlene) of Smithville. Her second husbands’ children, Anita Davis (Tommy) and Renda Coxwell (Ed). One sister, Sandra Nicely of Cleveland, TN and a brother and sister-in-law, Harold West (Sandy) of Leesburg, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle Mills Hayes (Jim), Brandon Mills, Katie Gilmer, Christine Gilmer and four great grandchildren, Chandler Mills, Cameron Mills, Valley Hayes and Sophia Witmer. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her first husband, of 62 years, David Oliver Mills and a daughter, Diane Mills. Her second husband, of five years, Raymond E. Phillips. Two sisters, Louise Rouse Lipsey, Betty Mills and a brother, George Washington West Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International Americus Camp P.O.
