Mr. Lynwood [Mac] McClung, Sr. age 71 passed away at his residence 292 Small Piece Road Plains, early Saturday morning September 28, 2013. Funeral Services will be held from the Graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 Rev. Tommy McConnell and Rev. Wendy Peacock officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon, September 29, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. other times the family residence 292 Small Piece Road Plains, Ga. Members of the Americus Fire and Emergency Services will be Honorary Pallbearers with full honors for Mr. McClung.
Mr. McClung was born July 19, 1942 in Americus the son of the late William Lynn McClung and Sara Eugenia Short McClung. He worked for Manhattan Shirt Company formerly of Americus, Americus Police Department , Sumter County Emergency Medical Services, Smithville Police Department, Sumter County Magistrate Office and retired from the Americus Fire and Emergency Service as a Captain after 22 years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Police Officers Association of Georgia and Fire Fighters Association and was a Veteran of the US Army.
Mr. McClung is survived by his beloved wife Tammy Hobbs McClung of Plains, Ga.; Mother-in-law; Trudy Hobbs also of Plains, Ga. two Daughters and Son-in-law; Sherri McClung Walker [Foy] of Ellaville, Ga. Erin Nicole McClung of Plains, Ga. Son and Daughter-in-law; Lynwood S. McClung, Jr. [Jeania] of Plains, Ga. Sister Betty McClung Newman of Americus, Ga. Brother James William [Bill] McClung of Plains, Ga. Brother-in-law and his wife Tracy Hobbs [Brenda] also of Plains, Ga. Seven Grandchildren Chris Law and wife Tiffani, Josh McClung, Kalan Law and wife Miranda, Candace Brooke Walker, Krista Lauren Walker, Lindsey Renee Booker and Jordan Lynn Booker, two Great Grandchildren Cadence Law and Clayton Law. He is also survived by 7 nieces and 6 nephews and his beloved dogs Bernie and Clifton. Mr. McClung was preceded in death by two sisters Louise Herrington and Grace Kenmore.
